The current situation of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for the automotive sector shows that 90% of all new functionalities equipped in a vehicle are provided by electronics and that electronics represents more than 30% of the total cost of a passenger car. Most vehicles are equipped with at least 4 ECUs, but in some cases they can reach 50 ECUs. Communications are implemented via at least 1 CAN bus, but there can be up to 5 CAN buses and include LIN, MOST and even flexray buses. The number of wires and connectors multiplies at the same time ECUs and communications increase. New issues appear when trying to deploy electric vehicles and Intelligent Transport Systems (basis of this proposal). These co-operative systems (ITS) will provide improved road safety, reduced traffic congestion, and more environmentally-friendly driving. The European Commission is interested in the massive implementation of these technologies on our roads

Applus IDIADA is developing a new integrated concept based on a controlled environment such as proving grounds intelligently managed using ITS technologies for the detection and monitoring of vehicles and creating a universal platform for the development of new innovative products and competitive companies engaged in ICT technologies as a key step for the scalability of these technologies and their future massive introduction / implementation in cities and highways. The platform will be used as a physical development tool by traffic management agencies, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers of vehicular wireless communication systems
